If you’re lucky enough to find yourself on a Parisian vacation, you’re going to want to share your experience on social media with the perfect Instagram photo. In this romantic city filled of beautiful streets, iconic landmarks, and distinctive Parisian charm, the options for photography are endless. When you’re unfamiliar with a city, it can be difficult to find the perfect spot if you have limited time, so here are my three foolproof photo locations that perfectly capture Paris’ beauty.
Top of the Arc de Triomphe
As one of the most famous monuments in Paris, the Arc de Tromphe is a photo opportunity in its own right, but the view from the top gives you the best birds eye view of Paris. I go to the top of the Arc de Triomphe each time I visit Paris due to the unparalleled views of the city that include the Eiffel Tower. For the sake of photos, I would recommend venturing to the top of the Arc de Triomphe over the Eiffel Tower. The cost to visit is 8€ for adults and 5€ for students.
Champ de Mars
The park surrounding the Eiffel Tower is a large green space perfect for picnicking, people watching, and of course, picture taking. While most people will photograph the Eiffel Tower from the main street, walk into the park and take a photo showcasing the beautiful park and walkways leading up to the Eiffel Tower. The location is fantastic for both day and night photos. Personally, I like the brightness that day-time photos offer, but at night, the Eiffel Tower will light up and sparkle for dynamic photo opportunities.
Le Bon Marche
The notable Parisian department store’s interior design is arguably more beautiful than the luxury clothing it sells. Stop here for a shopping trip, whether you buy anything or not, it’s a great way to experience the well-known Paris fashion scene and take an up-close look at designer masterpieces. From the third floor, you can get a great view of the elegant interior design. The white balance in my image shown here has been slightly enhanced.
Grab your phone and camera and head out to explore the city and snap some beautiful photos. If you Instagram at one of these spots, be sure to tag me (@wearisanja), I’d love to see your photos!
What to Wear
If you’re going to be in the photo, having the right outfit can really make or break the photo. Parisian style is all about femininity, subtlety, and effortlessness. Classic pieces like trench coats, A-line dresses, and jeans and sweater combinations in neutral or pastel colors align with the mood of the city. If you’re looking to be bold, red is also a great option. French girls always look more intellectual than sexy, a look that is achieved through flattering but relaxed silhouettes.
